New Delhi: Railways will run six new trains through and from Orissa to ensure better connectivity with different parts of the country.
Railway minister Suresh Prabhu Thursday listed the routes of different categories of newly-launched trains – Hamsafar express, Tejas express, Antyodaya express and Uday express besides other super-fast trains.
One Hamsafar train will run from Bhubaneswar to Krishnarajapuram (Bangalore) via Vijaywada while another Hamsafar express will be from Kamakhya to Bangalore via Cuttack.
Trains passing through Orissa include Howrah-Yeshwantpur Hamsafar express, Santragachhi-Chennai Weekly Antyodaya express, Howrah-Ernakulam Antyodaya express, Hatia-Ernakulam super fast express. Hamsafar express trains offer optional catering service, are likely to have 19 third AC coaches and can clock speeds up to 160km/hr. They will have LED bulbs, charging points at side lower seats as well, Braille signage in each coach and attractive interiors.
Antyodaya express is a long-distance, fully unreserved, superfast train service.
“These will cater to a long pending demand of the people of Cuttack who will now get a direct connectivity instead of the detour these trains were earlier taking,” the ministry press release said.
The new train time table will come into effect from October 1.
A release from the East Coast Railway said that timings of 44 trains running in the EcoR zone have been revised.
