Kanas: A 68-year-old man was arrested on charges of misbehaving with a 13-year-old girl at Gadishagoda village under Gadishagoda police limits here Monday. The accused was identified as Jata Palei of the village.
According to sources, at around 6.30 pm Sunday the victim went to relieve herself outside her house when Palei was lurking in the dark, waiting for her. He accosted the minor from behind on spotting her. However, the accused fled the scene when the girl started screaming and two other girls rushed to the spot.
The victim’s mother lodged a complaint with the police and a case (126/18) was registered.
On the direction of inspector in-charge Dhiraj Lenka, sub-inspector Basanta Kumar Jena took charge of the case and arrested the accused before forwarding him to court. We have conducted medical examination of the accused and the victim is at the district headquarters hospital in Puri for the same, said Jena.
