7 critical, close shave for 30 in bus-truck collision

Koraput: As many as seven persons including the drivers of a bus and truck were rendered critical, while 30 passengers seated inside the bus had a miraculous escape when a goods truck collided head-on with an OSRTC government bus on NH-26 at Ghataguda area in this district early Sunday morning.

The bus carrying more than 40 passengers was en route to Nabrangpur from Berhampur.  While the vehicle was crosing Ghataguda, a truck coming from opposite direction hit the bus, after the truck driver lost balance on the wheels.

The injured persons were rushed to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput. On being informed, Sunabeda police reached the spot and launched operation to shift the injured to the hospital.

Though the passengers had a miraculous escape, the front portion of both the vehicles has been completely damaged under the impact of collision.

Traffic on the road was normal after the mangled vehicles were removed from the road using a JCB machine.

A case was registered by police.
