Balasore: Police Wednesday arrested at least seven people in connection with a clash between two groups at Nidhibani village under Bhogarai block in Balasore district Tuesday night on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
According to reports, an altercation erupted between the two groups over the celebration of Kali Puja in the village. The verbal spat turned ugly when both the groups pelted stones at each other leaving a person injured.
On being informed, police reached the spot and admitted the injured villager to a nearby hospital. The seven persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the violence
Normalcy has been restored in the village after intervention of police, reports said.
