9-year-old rescued near Gadagadia temple

Cuttack: A nine-year-old boy was rescued Saturday morning after he was allegedly abandoned by his own grandmother and aunt in a pit near Gadagadia temple under Cantonment police station.

The child line official rescued the boy near Gadagadia temple and sent him to the hospital as he had sustained some minor injuries on his head and hand. They are now counselling the child and are trying to find more information on this incident.

Child line officer Abhijit Sahu said, “We got information from Cantonment PS sub inespector that a child has been found near Gadagadia temple. We rescued the child and as he had got some minor injuries, he was sent to the hospital and then we did some counselling. We are still talking to the child and trying to find the exact reason behind the incident”.

According to the child, his own grandmother asked him to go with her aunt to get a cake. His aunt left him near Durga Chowk asking him to go with a man who was waiting for him near a car. The minor did as asked and as they reached Sikharpur, the man made him smell something and he fell unconscious.

Later, he was rescued by the child line officer from a pit. It is suspected that the reason behind the incident can be a family dispute. But the real reason is yet to be confirmed.child line

Meanwhile, Cantonment police is investigating into the matter.
