9-yr-old ‘Titli’ deprived of SCB care

Cuttack: Even as ‘Titli’ has become a buzzword, of late, following IMD’s prediction that the storm would hit the coast Thursday morning, a 9-year-old namesake had to return from SCB Medical College and Hospital here without treatment due to alleged absence of a doctor, Wednesday.

According to sources, Titli alias Kaberi Dehuri, 9, of Sukinda area in Jajpur district was taken to Sishu Bhawan by her mother after she developed some severe skin disease (like carbuncle) on her neck. Titli is unable to move her neck as the patch of skin affected by the disease was quite large.

Titli, along with her mother Kabi Dehuri and social worker Biplabaditya Parida, reached Sishu Bhawan around 11am Wednesday. However, some issues cropped up due to which she could not be admitted to the health facility.

Kabi and Biplabaditya decided to admit Titli to SCBMCH as her condition was deteriorating. On reaching SCB, the nurses there said that the doctor would reach the hospital late.

With no option left, they returned to Jajpur and admitted Titli to Town Hospital following the intervention of the district collector and the district child protection officer. Meanwhile, sources said that Titli would be brought to SCB again Thursday.
