Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Tuesday carried out a joint eviction drive at Chintamaniswar area here.
The drive started at 10am and continued till late afternoon which witnessed demolition of 10 cabins, seven asbestos houses, an unauthorised temple and 400 feet long boundary wall, leading to eviction of around 80,000 sq ft belonging to the encroachers. According to the enforcement inspector Praffulla Behera of BMC the clearance was around 70 per cent of encroachments.
Enforcement officer Pramod Patra and liasoning officer Subhransu Mohanty of BDA were present during the drive. The eviction drive will help BMC in expediting the fishery tank renovation project, said ZDC of East Zone Binay Dash.
