Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: Enrolment in social security schemes such as Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) has seen a rise of 6 per cent in the first half of this fiscal, according to an official report.
An official from the State Level Bankers’ Committee, quoting the report told Orissa POST: “Banks enrolled 45.3 lakh subscribers in the first half of this fiscal,” the official said and added that 2.32 lakh subscribers were enrolled under APY, 8.62 lakh under PMJJBY and 34.36 lakh under PMSBY.
The official said that during the same period in the previous fiscal banks had enrolled 1.46 lakh subscribers under APY, 8.83 lakh under PMJJBY and 32.40 lakh subscribers under PMSBY.
On insurance claimed under the Social Security Schemes, the official said 79 claims were made under Rupay Debit Card, of which 73 were settled. One was rejected and five are pending, he added.
Under PMJJBY 2,316 claims were raised of which the banks settled 2,108; ninety-three claims were rejected for various reasons and the rest are pending and are likely to be settled by end of the fiscal.
Similarly, 308 and 747 claims were made under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) and PMSBY, of which 260 and 535 respectively were settled. The banks rejected 47 claims under PMJDY and 58 under PMSBY and the rest are likely to be closed before the end of this fiscal.
