Bhubaneswar: Jatin Das Centre of Art will hold an International film festival at the Idcol auditorium from 12 th-14th of January 2018. This was declared at a press meet held at JDCA Thursday. Eminent personalities like painter Jatin Das, actress Nandita Das, film critic Aruna Basudev, Debi Prasana Pattnaik, managing trustee Siddhartha Das, Sunit Tandon were present on the occasion. For the past 11 years JDCA has been organising film festivals based on art and artists. Addressing the meet Jatin Das said, “Media should play a pivotal
role in enhancing such fest. It should spread awareness among people so that they can come and watch world-class movies.” He further said that it’s really sad that around 2000 Oriya artistes are living outside the state as they are not being encouraged or given ample appreciation”. Seconding his thoughts Nandita said, “The panorama of movies set for the international fest will definitely set an example how efforts by JDCA are slowly but gradually embarking Orissa into the world map.” She also hoped that college students and youngsters would attend the festival in large number, so that they not only will be able to watch world class movies but
would also learn more about film making. Speaking on the occasion Aruna Basudev said that she was taken aback when Jatin Das had proposed a documentary film fest. Out of 2000 entries only 39 are selected for the three-day fest. These include 12 films from Orissa, 12 from other states of the county and 17 films from 15 different countries, some Oscar winning movies as well. This year the focus is on literature. The Fest will open with the screening of In Conversation with Martand Singh by Prasad Bidapa. Besides there will also be master classes and workshops on diverse aspects of art and crafts.
