Bhubaneswar, Jan 12: The state government Friday invited Japan to invest in the state and take benefit of its industry-friendly climate and policies. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended the invitation during his meeting with Japanese Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu at the secretariat.
Patnaik said Japanese industries have ample opportunities to invest in the state’s food processing, steel, petrochemicals, auto and electronic manufacturing sectors in the state.
The chief minister also invited Japan to participate in the ensuing Make In Orissa conclave, 2018 as a partner country.
In another development, the chief minister Friday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention for the immediate establishment of National Institute of New Energy and Innovation (NINEI) in the state. He also requested the PM to direct the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to reverse its November 10, 2017, order to close down its regional office in Bhubaneswar. “Closure of the regional office may hamper the progress of establishment of the NINEI at Bhubaneswar,” the CM wrote.
He said the state government has already allocated 73.68 acres for the institute near IIT-Bhubaneswar. “The construction of the institute has not yet been taken up despite grant of advance possession of the required land,” the letter read.
