Bhadrak: The progress of toilet construction under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) has been tardy in Jagannathprasad panchayat under Basudevpur block in this district, as funds have not been made available to beneficiaries even eight months after the work orders were issued.
Amar Majhi, Bharat Majhi, Prafulla Majhi and Madhusudan Parida of Dadhibamanpur in the panchayat alleged they had received work orders for toilet construction April 14, 2017. But, funds have not been provided to them due to
apathy of a junior engineer of the rural water supply and sanitation (RWSS)
department.
They also stated that though there are two junior engineers in the RWSS, none of them comes out on field visits while several other beneficiaries are not interested in taking up toilet construction.
The villagers demanded quick release of funds for the purpose.
