Bhubaneswar, Feb 7: The heads of all the departments (HoD) of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) here have decided to introduce certain short-term courses along with the main course, in a move to ensure quality technical education and skill development of students in the state.
“The meeting has focused on the overall development of technical colleges, students and faculty. A number of decisions have been taken, including revision of curriculum, industry exposure to students and faculty development programmes,” said JK Satapathy, vice-chancellor of BPUT. It was also decided to introduce a summer internship programme for students.
“We are committed to the academic excellence and the growth of technical institutions affiliated to BPUT. The initiatives will certainly help the development of the colleges and the students,” said the voce-chancellor.
The HoDs made presentations on how they are providing quality education to students and what needs to be done to revamp the current education system. Experts from various industries also gathered to present their views on the current needs of industry.
Participants at the workshop also dwelt on ways to enhance the quality education in the state, as many students from Orissa are unable to find employment.
