MBBS abroad may require NEET

New Delhi: Those wanting to study MBBS in foreign universities may soon have to clear the NEET as the government plans to make the test mandatory for them so that only competent students make the cut. Currently, students who wish to study medicine in any government or private medical college in the country have to clear the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) which came into existence from 2016. According to a senior health ministry official, the proposal is at an advanced stage. The official said that the move is aimed at ensuring only competent students get to study medicine in foreign universities. At present, a student who wishes to take up a medical course has to obtain an essentiality certificate from the MCI for admission in any medical college outside India.

New Delhi: The RBI has said that Rs500 and Rs1,000 notes, returned to banks when the government demonetised high value currency 15 months ago, are still being “processed for their arithmetical accuracy and genuineness”. This is being done in an “expedited manner”, the central bank said. “Specific bank notes are being processed for their arithmetical accuracy and genuineness and the reconciliation for the same is ongoing. This information can, therefore, be shared on completion of the process and reconciliation,” the RBI said in reply to an RTI application filed by a PTI correspondent.

The committee on office of profit is headed by senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra. The panel has 15 members — 10 from the Lok Sabha and five from the Rajya Sabha.
