Pottangi: A villager died as he was struck by lightning at Ambaguda under Pottangi block in Koraput district Monday. He was Banu Padhi.
The incident occurred while Padhi had gone to graze cattle in a forest near the village. All of a sudden, the village was lashed by heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty surface winds. Lightning hit Padhi while he was seeking shelter under a tree.
Family members searched for him after a while. His body was found under the tree. Police sent it for post-mortem. A case of unnatural death was registered.
