Junagarh: An elderly man sustained serious injuries while many were hurt when a swarm of honey bees attacked a weekly market at Talamala under Junagarh block in Kalahandi district Sunday.
Noise from the weekly market disturbed bees in a hive under a water tank and they attacked the market goers. People had to run helter-skelter to save themselves from bees.
Meanwhile, an elderly man was bitten by the bees after he failed to escape. He was identified as Damburudhar Naik. After the bees went back, local sarpanch Dusila Majhi called an ambulance and admitted Naik to Junagarh community health centre (CHC).
The weekly market had to be shifted due to the fear of the honey bees.
