Sundargarh: A minor girl raped by a relative has delivered twins at the Sundargarh district hospital (DHH). She was rushed to the Burla-based VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) as her condition deteriorated post delivery.
According to sources, the girl who lived near Sadar area was raped and impregnated by a close relative. After she was rescued by officials, she was sent to a Short Stay Home. From there, she was taken to the DHH when she experienced labour pain. The girl She delivered the twins there.
“We had taken permission from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and necessary arrangements were made to keep her at the Short Stay Home. She delivered twins at the Sundargarh DHH. After her condition deteriorated, the CDMO referred her to the Burla hospital. Further counselling will be done after she returns home in a healthy state. The twins will be given proper rehabilitation.” DCPO Sribant Jena said.
However, a concern has been raised as to who would take care of the children if the mother does not survive her critical condition. Till now, the accused has also not been arrested.
