Sambalpur: Police Wednesday arrested 12 persons on charge of cow-slaughtering at Baghlat village under Goudpali town outpost of Jamankira police station. The accused had killed a cow late Tuesday night.
Based on a complaint lodged by Gourahari Sahoo of Kandibundli village, police registered a case and arrested the accused. Police also seized 1.5 quintal of beef and chopping tools from the spot.
The accused were identified as Tayal Barro (50), Ayus Har (40), Pitra Munda (52), Nirla Jugun (31), Martin Topno (40), and a few others. All of them are residents of Kutripali under Jamankira police station area. Police produced them in SDJM court. Later, they were lodged in Kuchinda sub-divisional jail after rejection of their bail petitions.
On the other hand, many residents of Kandibundli rushed to the spot at night and that triggered tension in the area. However, a police team reached in time and brought situation under control.
