Bargaon/Sambalpur: The nationwide hue and cry over alarming increase in rape incidents notwithstanding, three separate rape cases were reported from Sundergarh and Sambalpur districts in the state during the last 24 hours.
An 11-year-old was raped by a sexagenarian at Bankibahal village Wednesday. In another incident, a 9-year-old was raped at Motijharan locality under Dhanupali police station in Sambalpur town Thursday. Another minor was allegedly raped in a village under Sasan police station in Sambalpur district.
In Balasore, a minor girl was sexually abused allegedly by a 75-year-old man, who has been arrested, police said Friday. The incident took place at Sana Matipur village in Balasore district Thursday.
The accused in the first two cases have been nabbed and sent to jail custody, while police are yet to register a case in the third instance.
