Nayagarh: In an allegedly fraudulent act, the college authorities of Kumbharpada-based Ladukeswar Jew College in Nayagarh district issued fake receipts to students after money was collected from them in the name of exam fees. The students brought the matter to the notice of their parents and staged a protest at the college Thursday.
According to students, the college collected Rs 1,000 each from around 180 of them.
“The college authorities are illegally extracting money from our children. When we went to the principal, he started blaming others. We have decided to lodge a police complaint,” said a distressed parent.
The college staff blamed the principal for the wrong action. Said a student, “Some college employees have collected Rs 1,000 from each one of us and issued fake receipts. When we complained, they said the college principal has taken the money.”
The protest was suspended after the principal said a show cause notice was issued to the errant college employees.
