Chandikhole: A woman died while her brother-in-law, with whom she allegedly had an illicit relationship, was injured after they were hacked by her husband at Ubuka village under Bari police limits in Jajpur district Monday. The injured was admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Police said Bharati (35), wife of Akshay Kumar Mallick, was close to her brother-law Arun. Despite repeated warnings by Mallick, the two did not mend their ways. Mallick turned furious when he caught the two in a compromising position. He took a sharp-edged weapon and hacked them on the spot.
“He first hacked his wife and she died on the spot. Then he stabbed Arun. Locals overpowered the assailant and called police. We sent the body for post mortem. A case has been registered and Akshay detained,” police said, adding that a probe was on.
