Bhubaneswar: Mesmerizing one and all with her charm and beauty, Odia girl Lavanya Das from here is all set to bring laurels to the state and the country by participating in the Prince and Princess International Beauty Pageant in Phuket, Thailand, from July 25 to July 31.
Lavanya, the only participant officially representing India at the prestigious event, will have to compete with 70 other participants from 20 different countries.
A student of Unit 8, DAV here, Lavanya is a practising model and has dabbled in the world of fashion since she was a child. She has already made her mark in the modeling industry after emerging the winner in last year’s Pre-teen Junior Model International beauty pageant in Kerala. There, she left behind 60 participants from 22 countries to claim the covetous award.
Even as modeling is a passion for Lavanya, she loves to savour the rich history, culture and traditions of her state and country and flaunts them with pride whenever she participates in fashion shows or beauty pageants.
Lavanya, a talented student, has also won accolades in extracurricular activities.
Lipika Das, her mother, says “After failing to get any sponsorship, we have arranged funds for her on our own. She’s an Odia girl and will definitely make her state, country and everyone proud.”
