Kendrapara: A fourteen-year-old girl was raped by her uncle and cousin several times, as per a police complaint lodged by her father.
The matter came to light only after the victim’s father, resident of a village under Sanajaria GP, noticed that his daughter was seven-months pregnant. When questioned, she narrated the sequence of events.
In his complaint Wednesday, the father said that ever since his wife died, his daughter used to do the household chores while he went out for work. Taking advantage of his absence at home, his 42-year-old brother and the brother’s 18-year-old son had been raping the girl for the past one year. “One of them held a knife to her and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone,” the father stated in the complaint.
When the victim’s father confronted the two about the girl’s pregnancy, they replied they were in no way involved.
“Though, I urged my relatives and villagers to provide justice to my pregnant daughter, nobody came forward to help us. As a result, I lodged a complaint with the police,” the father said.
A case has been registered and the police have started an investigation.
