Kolabira: An ailing female elephant has been spotted at Lambalungamal forest under Kolabira forest range in Jharsuguda district.
Locals said the elephant had sneaked into Kolabira forest range from Kuchinda forest. The elephant has been spotted moving in the area for the last 15 days, they added.
While its left leg seems to be shorter, the elephant’s right leg has some sort of swelling, reports said.
According to DFO Sushant Kumar, it may prove fatal for the ailing elephant if it is treated after tranquilisation because its age is over 50 years.
However, the forest department has kept a close vigil on its movement and is being treated by veterinary doctors.
It may be noted that some days ago an elephant died while undergoing treatment after undergoing tranquilisation.
