Malkangiri: Police Saturday arrested a 21-year-old youth, a trainee of the district industries centre (DIC), on the charge of raping and killing a minor girl.
Accused Boli Khil (21) who had allegedly raped and killed Kabita Madkami (name changed) of Kasalkunda Colony of Bhejangiwada panchayat under Kalimela police limits, confessed to have committed the crime and would be produced in a court, Malkangiri SP Jagamohan Meena told reporters Saturday.
According to police, Khil was in a relationship with the girl for the last two years. Though he had been trying to establish physical relationship with the girl, the latter was against it. However, he managed to call the victim June 13 over phone to a secluded place and raped her there. Later, he killed the girl suspecting that she would disclose the matter, police said, quoting the confession of the accused.
The girl’s family spotted the body on a land near Bhejangiwada and lodged a complaint with the police.
Based on the complaint, SDPO Sarvan Vivek M and Kalimela IIC Ram Prasad Nag probed the matter.
