Jagatsinghpur: A girl drowned while washing utensils in a pond at Basandhara village near Biridi in this district Sunday. She was Subhalaxmi Jena.
The girl accidentally slipped into the pond close to her house. She failed to get out of the water and drowned. Family members found her missing and started a search. They found the body floating in the pond.
Locals fished out the body and alerted the police. The body was sent for post-mortem to the district hospital, locals said.
A case of unnatural death was registered and the body handed over to the family for final rites after autopsy.
