Bargarh: Three persons tried to rape a woman after assaulting her husband at a farmhouse in Katapali village under Town police limits here late Friday night.
They failed in their bid after the farmhouse owner arrived there and overpowered one of the accused while rescuing the couple.
Police detained one of the accused while two others managed to escape. A case was registered and a manhunt launched to arrest the absconders.
Police said the couple was the caretaker of the farmhouse and lived there. The couple had gone to sleep after dinner when the three miscreants barged inside and suddenly attacked the man.
Later, the trio tried to rape the woman. The farmhouse owner came to the couple’s rescue.
