Boudh: In a shocking incident, a youth was hacked to death by two of his friends during a feast at Malikapada village near Baunsuni in this district Tuesday night.
While no exact reason was known, reports suggested that the murder was fallout of a love triangle. However, some said that the murder was over some previous enmity due to some land dispute.
On receipt of information, police reached the village and launched a probe.
The deceased was identified as Ajit Pradhan (24), while the accused persons were his close friends Miku Pradhan (24) and Sujit Pradhan (22).
According to locals, the three friends had arrange a feast Tuesday evening. The trio broke out in an altercation over some issue after the feast. In a fit of rage, the two accused, hacked Ajit to death. They also set his two-wheeler on fire and fled the spot.
Locals suspect it to be a pre-planned murder as the accused persons had taken the sharp-edged weapons with them. It is suspected that the two first made Ajit fully drunk and then hacked him to death.
The matter came to the fore after locals spotted Ajit’s mutilated body lying in a pool of blood Wednesday morning and alerted the police.
Police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. The two accused have been absconding after the incident.
