Puri, Feb 21: It’s an interesting theme surrounding the survival of poetry which is creativity personified. Poetry, which has almost lost its way and significance in a matter-of-fact world, was looking for its creator. However, the ingenious creator is elusive in a value-bereft society where politics has killed the real poet, signifying social and degeneration.
Such an innovative concept was evolved into a film by filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharya. The film depicts how the voice of freedom and creativity is stifled by political, economic and social forces. While poetry seeks to generate a new world of values, reactionary and regressive forces are nipped in the bud. The movie-maker has also earned rave reviews for his film ‘I’ exhibited in Paris in the first week of
this month.
The movie was part of the film festival BYOFF (Bring Your Own Film Festival) that commenced at Pink House here on the beach Saturday evening. An elite gathering of film lovers were regaled with value-based films like ‘Never Quit’ by Sayan Mallik, Manik Ganguly’s The Perfectionist, Yudhajit Sarkar’s Vancouver, and Mustafa’s film among others.
Brazil danseuse Samira entertained the audiences with her scintillating performance. Film-maker Sudarsan Juyal organised a photo workshop to mark the occasion.
Well-known film personalities Sushant Mishra, Gurupal Singh, Surya Sanjkar dash and Robin Sahu were present at the festival.
