Berhampur: Police Saturday recovered the body of a minor boy under mysterious circumstances near Lohachakhanda bridge at Sankha Sahi in Bhanjanagar police limits in Ganjam district.
Deceased Laxman Nayak was the son of Hema Nayak. Locals spotted the body hanging from the bridge with limbs tied.
After getting information, police reached the spot with sniffers dogs and launched a probe. The body was sent for autopsy.
According to sources, Laxman was ill and bed-ridden for some time. His mother Hema begged for alms and took care of him with the hope that he would get well soon.
But Hema’s hopes were shattered after the minor was found dead. Suspecting foul play, she pleaded with the police to probe the matter and take action against the guilty.
Laxman’s hands were tied which clearly indicates that he was murdered, claimed a local.
Senior police officials were yet to comment on the incident.
