Kendrapara: A youth was killed and another sustained critical injury after a bike they were travelling on was run over by an unknown vehicle on NH-5 near Bouda Chhak under Marshaghai police station Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Abhay Kumar Barik of Tikhiri village of the Kendrapara district.
The accident took place late Monday night while Abhay along with a friend Sanjay Behera was returning from Paradip after some work. Near Bouda Chhak, driver of an unknown vehicle lost control on the wheels and hit the bike from behind.
While Abhay died on the spot, Sanjay sustained critical injury in the accident and was immediately rushed to SCB Medical and Hospital in Cuttack.
Police have seized the mangled motorcycle from the spot after sending the body for postmortem to Marshaghai CHC.
Investigation is underway and efforts are on to trace the unknown vehicle involved in the accident.
