Bhubaneswar: The well-marked low pressure formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal and north Odisha coast that has triggered rainfall in most parts of the state since Tuesday is likely to intensify in the next 24 hours.
The regional centre of the Indian Meteorological Department here issued heavy to very heavy rain alert for nine districts.
The districts likely to experience heavy rain are Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Khurda, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Boudh, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, following a review meeting on flood and rainfall situations in the state Tuesday, advised the entire district collectors to remain alert and adopt necessary measures to tackle emergencies.
The Chief Minister also asked the ODRAF and NDRF teams to be prepared for any eventualities.
The State Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi said, “All the district collectors have been directed to remain alert. For any eventualities, there is a disaster management plan in each district as well as at block levels.”
