Balasore: In a shocking incident, two minor girls drowned in a pond at Chakulia village under Remuna police limits in this district Wednesday afternoon.
Sources said, the incident occurred while the two girls had gone to take bath in a pond near the village. Due to carelessness, one of the girls slipped and fell into the water. In a bid to rescue her, the other one also drowned, villagers said.
Hearing their screams, villagers rushed to their rescue and brought them out of water. However, it was too late as the two girls had already died, sources said.
A pall of gloom descended on the village following the incident.
