Buguda : A man was hacked to death by his younger cousin over a domestic dispute in Balipadar village under this police limits in Ganjam district Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Sudarshan Swain (55) of Nuansahi in the village. The accused Kanha Swain fled the scene after the incident. Buguda IIC Rama Chandra Biswal and Balipadar police personnel rushed to the spot and launched an investigation.
The incident occurred in evening when Sudarshan was taking a bath near a tube well in the village. His cousin Kanha suddenly appeared on the scene and assaulted him with a sharp-edged weapon.
Profusely bleeding, he collapsed on the spot screaming for help. Family members rescued him and rushed him to the Balipadar primary health centre where the pharmacist advised them to take him to Aska hospital as there was no doctor in the hospital at that time.
This sparked tension but family members without wasting time rushed him to the Aska hospital. However, by then it was too late as doctors pronounced Sudarshan dead.
