Bhubaneswar: Artists and members of Orissa Modern Art Gallery (OMAG) will put up an exhibition-cum-sale at the gallery premises on Raksha Bandan with a view to collect funds for Kerala flood victims.
OMAG founder Tarakanta Parida informed that art works of more than 50 artists will be exhibited at the exhibition and 50 per cent of the sale proceeds will be contributed to Kerala flood relief.
“As artists it is our responsibility to support people in our own way and through this exhibition we are doing our part”, he said.
These artists have exhibited their art at the gallery on several occasions. Artists of local and national repute will exhibited their art for the noble cause.
Earlier Wednesday, three associations representing Malayalees residing in Odisha inaugurated the Kerala Flood Relief Information Centre near Metro House at Vani Vihar with the support of local administration. These associations are Kerala Kala Samiti, Bhubaneswar; All India Malayalee Association, Odisha unit, and World Malayalee Council, Odisha province. The information centre will serve as a facilitation point for people who would like to donate for Kerala flood relief. A vehicle will go around the city highlighting the plight of the flood victims to create public awareness on the issue.
Besides, Kalinga Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) has donated Rs 10 lakh for Kerala flood relief. At the same time, BJD MP Achyuta Samanta, who is also the founder of KIIT & KISS, has donated Rs 2 lakh from his salary for medicine and other health kits meant for the flood affected in Kerala.
