Bhubaneswar, March 7: Ravenshaw University emerged champions in the SOA Premier League (SPL) cricket tournament, outplaying Utkal University by seven wickets in the final at the SOA University stadium, Wednesday.
Chasing a target of 129 runs in 20 overs, Ravenshaw openers Ninimesh Jena (46) and Srijay (44) put on 88 for the first wicket to ensure the team’s facile victory in 18.3 overs.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Utkal kept losing wickets at regular intervals to muster only 128 for nine in 20 overs. Sushil(3/28) bowled well for Ravenshaw.
The winners took home a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000, while the runners-up received Rs. 50,000.
