Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has beefed up security at the Assembly and surrounding areas in view of the Monsoon Session beginning Tuesday.
A team of Special Police Forces and commandos will be deployed for security along with local police units.
Speaking to Orissa POST, Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said, standard security protocol as in the past would be maintained. He took stock of the arrangements Monday.
It would be a three-tier arrangement covering the perimeter walls and gates, the different entry gates to the assembly building and inside the building. The local police will be in charge of security of the outer circle and the entry gates in the inner side while special police and a team of Quick Reaction Team (QRT), commandos, will guard the innermost part of the building, he said.
Police have made adequate security arrangements keeping in view any possible untoward situation that may emerge due to demonstrations during the session at the Lower PMG area. Barricades would be put in place to ensure that the demonstrators remain confined to the area designated for them. Around 30 CCTV cameras are installed at the place. Top officials will be keeping a close watch on all the activities at the Lower PMG area. There will be two barricades while most of the police force will guard the first barricade and the remaining police personnel will be at the second with Bajra vehicle, water cannons and gas cannons.
Thirty platoons of police along with 100 officers will be deployed keeping in view the security at the assembly. DCP Bhubaneswar will supervise the overall security while five additional DCPs, 12 ACPs, 85 ASIs and SIs will be in charge of the overall security at the assembly during the session.
