Khurda: Police have arrested a self-proclaimed sorcerer from Banapur area in Khurda district Thursday for allegedly blackmailing and having sexual relationship with a woman. He was threatening her to circulate photos and videos of their intimate moments and make them viral on social media.
The accused has been identified as Sai Rao (30) of Raghunathpur Sahi under Banapur police limits.
According to sources, Sai met the victim, when she was going to a Shiva temple in the holy month of Sravana. Sai lured the woman by telling her that he possesses miraculous powers and can heal any physical or mental ailments. He then established physical relationship with the woman since then.
When the victim realised that the accused was taking advantage of her, she opposed following which Sai reportedly blackmailed her. He threatened that he would make the pictures and video of their intimate moments viral if she refuses to have sex. Fearing social stigma, the victim fell prey to the fake sorcerer and was repeatedly raped by him.
Following the incident, the woman lodged a complaint with Banapur police Thursday. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Sai and sent the both for medical examination.
