Kendrapara: Sadar police arrested a government primary school teacher Friday for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman of Angulai panchayat in an inebriated state. Police said the accused threatened the woman with a knife August 26 evening.
The accused, Raghunath Padhan, 45, is a teacher at the Nembera Primary School, said IIC Kabuli Barik of Sadar police station.
Barik said Padhan had gone to attend a feast in Matiasahi. There he found the victim alone at home and allegedly raped her at knifepoint.
The victim lodged an FIR Wednesday at Sadar police station. Police registered a case under Sections 376, 294 and 506 of IPC against the accused and arrested him Friday.
“The accused and the victim will be taken to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack Saturday for medical examination. After that the accused will be presented in a court,” IIC Barik said.
