Baripada: A youth was electrocuted after he came in contact with a live electric wire at Mirigidari village of Managovindpur panchayat under Badasahi block in Mayurbhanj district Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Dushasan Mahanta (30), son of Bana Mahanta of the village.
According to sources, a puja was being organised at Dushasan’s house Thursday. When all were dancing and singing to a traditional song, Dushasan accidentally came in contact with a naked electric wire and fell unconscious.
Family members rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Kesinga police have registered an unnatural death case in this connection and sent the body for post-mortem.
