Keonjhar: A video has been doing rounds on social media platforms in which a young couple, believed to be love birds, are being harassed and even assaulted by some local miscreants in a jungle in this district.
While the incident occurred few days back October 12. However, the matter came to the fore after a video of the whole incident circulated and went viral on social media platforms.
Sources said, the incident happened when a college girl hailing from Sainpura under Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar district had gone on a darshan to the famous ‘Maa Tarini” in Ghatagaon with her male friend.
On their way back, the couple was intercepted by some local youths in the jungle area near Melan.
The miscreants started abusing them and questioned about their intentions regarding their presence in the jungle. One of the youths shot the whole episode in his mobile phone camera and then uploaded it on social media.
In the video, they can be heard abusing the boy and girl using filthy language. They can also be seen trying to tie the boy to a tree. The girl is seen to be begging the youths to let them go, but it fell on deaf ears, and they kept harassing the couple.
Within a short span, it became viral. As no complaint has been lodged in this connection, the police are yet to take any action in this case.
