Patna: As many as 30 passengers travelling in a bus had a narrow escape after the left side rear tyre of the vehicle caught fire due to some reason at Turumunga market on National Highway 49 here in Keonjhar district Friday morning.
Sources said, the incident occurred when the bus named ‘Jhuna’ was en route to Keonjhar from Jharadihi in Mayurbhanj district. The bus was near Turumunga market when the left side rear tyre caught fire for some reason.
Seeing smoke emitting from the rear part, passengers were in panic. Some were screaming for help. However, locals came to their rescue and took them out of the bus safely. Later the fire was also extinguished.
On being informed, police reached the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.
