Bhadrak: Miscreants tried to loot an ATM at Sabarang Bazaar here Friday night, but in vain as they could not break open the cash box. The police have started an investigation into the matter.
In a related development, police got leads about the loot of Rs 30 lakh from a UCO Bank staff near Kuapada September 24. Police seized a bike, which was used in the loot, from a straw pile of Bhaskar Sahu, a resident of Daisingh Saturday. An empty tin box was seized from a biogas tank. But the cash has not been recovered.
Meanwhile, the police detained Bhaskar Sahu and Amulya Das of Kuansha and interrogated the duo.
The main accused of the loot Baidhar Rout has been absconding. Police have been tracking his cell phone and he will be arrested soon, said IIC Dayanidhi Das.
Three bike-borne miscreants had looted the cash from the bank staff at gunpoint near Kuapada.
