Lanjigarh: A man hacked his younger brother to death with an axe over a petty family feud at Biswanathpur village under Lanjigarh block in this district Monday night.
Villagers overpowered the accused and handed him over to police Tuesday morning. A case was registered based on a complaint by the deceased’s wife Laxmi Majhi and the body was sent for autopsy.
The deceased has been identified as Nath Majhi (30), younger brother of the accused Rige Majhi (35).
According to sources, the marriage of their sister was fixed and was to be scheduled in a few days. The two brothers broke out in an altercation over some financial matter related to their sister’s marriage.
Things took an ugly turn after the two brothers began abusing each other. In a fit of rage, Rige took an axe and hacked Nath, leading to his death on the spot.
