Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will kick off the event November 11 evening. The event will have four big stalls named after the famous destinations of Odisha like Chilika, Bhitarkanika, Simlipal and Mahanadi. These stalls are dedicated to seminars on various sectors in which leading industrialists will participate.

There would be four stalls named after the state’s major rivers Brahmani, Baitarani, Rushikulya and Subarnarekha. There will be as many gates for VVIPs and the general public.

Pavilion Deomali

The theme-based Pavilion Deomali – the highest mountain peak of Odisha – will be projected on the geodesic dome. Officials said the dome is being constructed for the first time in India, and will project the focus sectors and prominent tourism locations in the state. Cutting-edge technologies like kinetic installation will be used and visitors can enjoy the synchronised beauty of 108 spheres. Visitors will also get a chance to see the future Smart City and the natural beauty of Odisha through virtual reality.

Japan Seminar

As Japan is the country partner of MIO-2018, a dedicated session for Japanese companies is scheduled for November 12. The Japanese companies will be shown investment opportunities in Odisha’s manufacturing sector. Some of the companies which have confirmed their presence are Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Marubeni, JFE Steel, Nissin Food, Mitsui and Takahata Precision.

Awards ceremony

The state government is planning to present three awards — the Odisha CSR Awards 2018, Expo Awards and Pride of Odisha to companies and successful entrepreneurs. Odisha CSR Awards are being awarded for the first time. The awards will be given to companies operating in the state for outstanding contributions to the socio-economic development of Odisha. Expo awards will be given to three companies for the best stall at the expo November 12. The CM will present the Pride of Odisha award to three Odisha-based entrepreneurs who are successful innovators. This award is part of the successful conclusion of the ‘I am Odisha’ campaign on social media.

High targets for MIO-2018

The first edition of MIO bagged around Rs 2,03,000-crore investment commitments. During the last conclave, the state had received 124 proposals and 65 per cent of them are in various stages of implementation. Over 800 meetings were held and around 270 exhibitors showcased their products. MIO-2016 received over 4,400 registrations and around 18,500 visitors came to the event. But according to officials, MIO-2018 will be bigger than that of 2016. The participation of companies has increased and officials hope to receive good number of investment proposals. The MIO-2018 has been extended to four-and-a-half days.
