Hatadihi: In a heart rending case, a young man here is forced to helplessly watch his seriously ill mother as he cannot afford to get her treated.
The matter was reported from Salania village of Hatadihi block in Keonjhar district.
Sources said Kailash Kanhar’s mother Satyabhama, (60), who is battling for life has been bedridden for long. Kailash and his family who have acute financial problems are forced to silently watch the ailing Satyabhama suffering without any treatment.
In a bid to save his mother, Kailash, a newspaper hawker, has left no stone unturned to raise funds. However, all his attempts were in vain, and finally he was forced to beg.
Satyabhama’s legs and hands are swollen and she can’t even sit properly. Adding to their woes, they are not eligible for governmental schemes to fund the treatment of Satyabhama.
After arranging some funds from local villagers, Kailash admitted his mother to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. However, Satyabhama’s treatment stopped midway as her son could not pay hospital bills.
With no other option left, Kailash has requested the government and the district administration to provide financial assistance to save his mother’s life.
