BHUBANESWAR: A book fair Lock The Box, organised by bookchor.com, concluded at Community Hall in Chandrasekharpur here Sunday.
The three-day book fair had commenced Friday. The organiser bookchor.com is an e-commerce platform which sells both old and new books. Their chief purpose is to make literature easily available to readers at affordable prices.
The cheap prices of the books are highlighted by the fact that one could take home as many books as can be fit in boxes which were available at three different prices at the fair. The transaction for any number of books bought was through a single payment. Book lovers found it very convenient to procure books from the fair.
‘Odysseus’ Box – This box could fit in a minimum of 8 books. This light sized box was priced at Rs 999. ‘Perseus’ Box – This box could fit in a minimum of 15 books. The box was priced at Rs 1499. ‘Hercules’ Box – This was the biggest box among all three. Costing Rs 2499, it can easily hold 28-30 books.
The fair was not just about buying new books. One could also make space for new books by selling old ones to bookchor.com. The online retailer has already covered 17 cities including Bhubaneswar till date. The next book fair would be held at Patna.
“We have already sold around 650 boxes in the state. Each box contains 8-10 books at Rs. 999 with certain variations. The fair is mainly aimed at increasing literature readership. One can procure children books, fiction as well as non-fiction books, travels book and romantic books among others at affordable prices. We are also offering discount coupons on purchase of new books in exchange of old ones,” said Vidyut Sharma, Co-founder, bookchor.com.
