Bhubaneswar: Biju Yuva Vahini (BYV) in association with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) organised a 5-km-long mini marathon from Forest Park Square to Kendriya Vidyalaya-1 here Sunday. Similar events were also organised across the state Sunday.
As many as 500 participants dressed in white T-shirts with the slogan ‘Run For Hockey’ congregated near the Forest Park Square at 7am to promote the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018. The primary purpose of this mini marathon was to heighten the enthusiasm of the mega sporting event among people.
The marathon commenced from Forest Park and crossed Sishu Bhawan, Rajmahal, Master Canteen, Ram Mandir Square and finally culminated near Kendriya Vidyalaya-1 at 11:30am.
Taking World Cup promotions to the next level, the youth outfit is set to organise a mass viewing of the opening ceremony of the world cup for 2,000 people. The event will start at 5:30pm at Unit-I Government High School ground. The main objective of this event would be to enliven a sporting spirit and sense of camaraderie among denizens.
