Baripada: A woman was rendered critical in elephant attack at Badampur village under Rasagovind forest range in Mayurbhanj district Monday.
The victim was identified as Icchamani Ram. She had been to her farmland to harvest the ripened paddy crops when the pachyderm attacked her on the route. The elephant believing her to be dead left the spot when she lost her sense and collapsed on the spot.
Later, the villagers rescued her from the spot and first admitted her to the rasagovindpur hospital and later shifted her to the Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada.
