Daringbadi: Security arrangements have been tightened in and around Daringbadi as well as at Brahmanigaon in Kandhamal district ahead of Christmas celebrations Tuesday.
In a bid to avoid any untoward incident, police forces have been deployed and frisking of vehicles is being conducted at several places since this morning, said Daringbadi police station IIC Alekh Garadia.
The areas situated near NH-59 including Chari Chhak, Tini Chhak and Simanbadi Chhak have been kept under police scanner.
Similarly, searches are also being conducted at Jhinjiriguda which is situated along Kandhamal-Gajapati border. Frisking of vehicles will continue till tomorrow, said sources.
With the direction of Kandhamal SP Pratik Singh, Baliguda SDPO Nitin Kushalkar is monitoring the security arrangements. While police personnel have been deployed in front of all churches, police officials have been stationed at sensitive places. Moreover, senior undercover cops were also engaged for taking stock of the situation.
According to reports, while the Christian community will hold Christmas celebrations Tuesday, they will also offer prayers and observe Jesus Christ’s birthday from tonight. The churches have already been decked up with colourful lights and different decors.
While people have started preparing traditional desserts and cakes at their houses amid the enchanting rhythm of Christmas carol, it is expected that tomorrow will be marked with religious fervor and gaiety.
