Kendrapara: The Patkura police Sunday retrieved the decomposed body of a youth, Dipak Kumar Panda, a resident of Bandhakat under Patkura police limit, from the river water of Chitroptala near Mandia village, informed Sujit Pradhan, IIC of Patkura police station.
Notably, Panda who was working in a Kerala-based Private company had returned to his house December 26 after three years to perform the death anniversary of his father. He also had brought Rs 17,000 for the prayers.
According to Sasmita Panda, widowed mother of the deceased, her son Dipak and the neighbour Arakhita Panda’s son, Ashok, went to Patkura on latter’s bike December 26. Later, in the evening, she got information that her son and Ashok fell into the Chitroptala river while they were going on Akhua embankment near Patkura in an inebriated condition.
Later, villagers and the family members rushed to the spot and found Ashok lying on the embankment with his bike but they failed to trace out Dipak. On 27th December, she later lodged a missing report at Patkura police station.
Today, locals of Mandia after finding Dipak’s body was floating on Chitroptala river bank, informed to the police along with giving information to the family members of deceased Dipak. The family members later identified the body of Dipak.
The widowed mother alleged that her son Dipak was allegedly killed as his Rs 17,000 was missing from his purse along with blood was found on the mouth ear and nose. Even, disappearing of Ashok Panda, who took Dipak with his motorbike, from the village raised doubts about Dipak being killed.
The Patkura police has registered an UD case and sent the body for autopsy to District Headquarters hospital. The curtain would be erased from the mystery of Dipak’s death after police would get the autopsy report of Dipak, informed Pradhan, the IIC.
